According to some recent TV mags, the drama is going to start airing on 27th July!! And Koichi is going on this show hosted by Taichi called "Aura no Izumi" on 28th July~~~ Strange show to go... but I'll look forward to it anyway... hopefully they don't say "stupid things"... this show (according to those who watch?) invites guests to be analysed by 2 "masters" who have spiritual powers... I wonder what they are going to say about Koichi??? But anyway, from the bits and pieces I see, Koichi's visuals are excellent!! Can't believe they made him wear a black suit... very handsome~~ elysia

Ah, finally, I caught up with the surfing. So at this blog here there was a casting call and that's how the fans knew. I always wondered how fans know the schedules of the artists.

I have finished reading the Zen of Fish which is all about sushi making so that I could understand better when Koichi's drama come around. I've done a brief review of the book and there is a slight mention of martial arts used by sushi chefs. I think Koichi may be doing just that. http://www.wretch.cc/blog/gakinme&article_id=6123788

Myojo June 2007
In the July drama Sushi Prince, I would be the sushi chef and the karate practictioner. So I went to a sushi shop for a few days to practice making sushi. In real terms, it is really very hard. When you are a customer and you look up at the counter, it looks very simple. But when you change it to be the person behind the counter, I was shocked. First, from the rice pot, taking out a right amount of rice is a skill in itself. It can’t be too much, it can’t be too little. Those who have worked in this field for a few years, they could do it with their eyes closed. But, no matter how, I’m just a learner. Besides, it has to be attractive, fast because no matter when you make it, sushi ingredients would become warm and it would taste bad. No one would want to eat warm sashimi? I want to play the role a bit more realistically and so I tried very hard to keep practicing making sushi.
I heard that Tatsuro Yamashita when composing for this drama, just the rhythm alone took him over a day. He’s really very professional. If I have to be categorized, then I would be like his type. Very often people say, “Tsuyoshi is the perceptual type but Koichi has the professionalism.” It’s probably because I am not very confident of my own perceptual instincts and couldn’t copy others. So I might as well create my own style. No matter what, one has to work hard and look forward. I think only with such foundation could one complete a task to the utmost.
As for the element of Karate in the TV drama, I didn’t practice it as much as I did for sushi making. (laughs). More or less, there is a master in the series but he doesn’t teach me the techniques but to teach me the skills in everyday life. For instance, When you wax a car, the movement required is a bit like defense techniques. Right, it is like The Karate Kid where they describe the karate kid – that type of feel.
Anyway, I think this time, the TV drama should be relaxing. “That’s entertainment!” With a good meaning, it’s lively, and a bit nonsensical story. (laughs) I also have a hairdo that is shocking to others. I acted with all seriousness. So please enjoy it!Exclusive: Please do not repost this translation outside of this forum. For those who would like to sample Tatsuro's work, go here. http://www.stsky.com/geshou/3220.htmI came to know him when I heard Ride on Time in Kimura's Good Luck. Such a great song. I have confidence that it would be a lively song along such lines even though he would be letting Kinki Kids sing it.

Thank you, Elysia. I have translated the theme song for this drama here along with some annotations on fish and sushi making in Japan. Will someone kindly pls dish up the romanizations? http://z2.invisionfree.com/kinkikids/index...topic=3007&st=0
