Voted for 5 minotaurs. I'm still very new to beasts, so I'm not sure of the standard tricks or pretty combos and stuff. However, a 6 man minotaur group seems like a bit of a wrecking ball. I may be wrong, but it sounds like that'd hit someone's line or flank and crush 'em. Bloodfrenzy may be abit of a pain though if it effects the whole unit?

And the only one fit enough to wander around with a minotaur lord is another minotaur. Chaos trolls may be kind of fun if they're spitting all over everyone, but minotaurs look cheaper and don't have the risk of getting stupid.

Goodluck!

15+ may be excessive, but bestigors are now probably the best house for a doombull.

The unit is almost as fast as a normal doombull. It provides much better shooting protection and more static combat res then your other options. Point wise it is similar (minus the mage) so that is a wash. The real key is to know when to run your doombull in the unit and when to take him out to go it on his own.

Agree 100%. 10-12 is probably enough, and you don't need the shaman there (not that it's a bad place for him), but this is the place for Doombulls.

I personally voted for the bestigor bodyguard. Because, mino's, well, their job is simply not to keep a general in my army. With their very decent ld, they can work good to flee, good to smash into flanks, good to get anything low rank, not good at holding something that value able in their pockets. In a bestigor herd on the other hand, the doombull can maintain a somewhat, Ld bubble and be protected by what we call our "elite." (plus we get an excuse to get bestigors.)

Me and Silenius! But I would probably never put my doombull in my troll unit, but next to it or behind it. smile.gif

I voted for Trolls cause I didn't see an option for Ogres.

Basically "to me", only Nurgle Mino's are worthy as a body guard cause of the save they can have.

Trolls are really nice can-openers and the LD 9 helps with their stupidity. This can-opener roll 'can' be devoid in a beasts army.

I said Ogres cause they can have a 3+ save in CC, a musician and standard. This means I'm less likely to take wounds.

This is just my personal preference though.

Trolls! I used them that way in my only 2000 (vs 2000 vs 2000) point game to date and they went stupid 3 turns in a row, but I still managed to win! So somehow it helped.. unsure.gif

Bestigors, hands down.

Big units of Minos don't work because the unit is either stupidly wide and becomes unusable or you end up paying 46 points for Minos who are doing nothing in the back rank.

The Troll unit is too small so the Doombull can't get "Look out sir" and normal shooting gets randomly allocated, which makes it a pretty poor ass bodyguard...tongue.gif

At least it's better than in Quebec: "How about we switch partners for the night?" rolleyes.gif

Unlike Daggoth's house where it is "How about I switch hands for the night?"

I vote for Beastigors... Because they give +3 (rank and banner) CR and Doombull can use "lookout sir" rule in that unit...

Duhh a Minotaur Unit.

In any other unit it would look like totally lame. Shame on you for this foolish question!

if the new edition does indeed allow 40mm based units to achieve full ranks in 3s instead of 5s the mino discussion would certainly be reopened
