Well....here we are....less than 6 months until a new book, so I think we need a little more moderation coverage. My initial thoughts are that we need two new moderators, but if there's more qualified choices, a third new moderator isn't a stretch.

All you have to do is write in 500 words or more why you think you are a good choice. I'd like to see some creativity here, not just an essay on why you love the Herdstone, but some things you'd like to change, maybe an activity you'd be interested in running (something like the painting competition BK runs), and where you're active in the Herdstone.

Please only reply to this thread if you wish to apply. This thread will be open until midnight GMT on November 1st and we'll announce the new moderators in the following weeks (decisions will be made by the current moderating team).

Good luck to everyone. We look forward to your applications.

-Decker

Well, I'm not very fond of trying to sell myself, but here goes...

I should be a mod on the Herdstone.

I see the Herdstone as my natural "internet home", I think it's a cool forum with a lot of laid back people, and I want to keep it that way. smile.gif

I usually read most of the 'stone, but I concentrate on the Hobby forums.

If I was to become mod I'd ban Kawazu.
If I was to become mod I'd like to see what could be done about getting some more emoticons. I'm sure I'd have more ideas (I have at least one), and I know I'm good at refining ideas, I'm great to bounce ideas off. If they return slightly crooked, then that's what you should expect. wink.gif
I'm not gonna post any other wild ideas, I'm of the belief that it's better to test the waters with your toe before diving in. Spend some time listening and learning before telling the natives what plants are good to eat...

When it comes to dealing with other people I try to be nice, especially to newbies. I try to stay out of political debates, it's usually not worth it getting wound up about what someone in another country thinks about God/abortion/Iraq.

I am already posting links to here (on Warseer for example), this is something I'd continue to do, to try to spread the word that we exist.

I'm not a native English speaker, but neither is alot of other posters here, and if I can be the non-native-speaker-voice, then so much the better. Still, having read some 500+ English books, and perusing online forums almost daily for at least five years, I'm fluent enough to get by.
Since I live in Europe I can be online when some of the current mods can't, thus spreading the burden of watching for the feared spambots.

In real life my name is Martin, I'm 33 years old and I live with my girlfriend in Stockholm, Sweden. At the moment I'm looking for a new job.

If you're not happy that this isn't 500 words, then I'll edit in 200 "Rhubarb", and be damned with ye, ye Southern Pansies. tongue.gif

If i'm made mod i'll ban people for laughs and generally act like a bastard.

I think the stone needs a europe mod though, as far as I know the current mod team is all North America/Canada or Australia? Mrtn would be a good mod, I support him.

I honestly wasn't planning on applying this year, but after a certain someone who I won't name Decker, it was Decker told me over msn it would be worth doing, if only to increase the number of applicants, I thought what the hell.

I've been around for a while, admittedly not as long as some of the members who still post, but its been over 3 years by now, and its been interesting to see new members join as older ones faded away (remember Sneggy and Spawn? I miss those guys :/). I have a few ideas on how to improve user contribution to the site, pay more attention to those areas of the forum that have been neglected as of late, general stuff like that. Although i'll likely be working soon, I should still have enough free time to be on the forum at least once every day or two, to make sure everything is running smoothly and theres no problems, that combined with the fact the rest of the mod staff are on different timezones should ensure that theres a mod around at pretty much any time, meaning issues etc are quickly resolved. I'm on a few other forums, so I can help spread awareness of the site. I tend to browse the Hobby and OT sections of the forum, I don't pretend to know how to play the game so you won't see me in any major rules debates, so my attention will mainly be focussed on those areas, who knows, maybe i'll actually paint something for once. Despite my earlier comment, and what some people may think, I won't be biased in my moderating, just think before you post and read the rules and we'll get along fine wink.gif

I can't be bothered writing any more, so heres a man with a horse's head cooking some mushrooms.

Hmm, to become a 'member'. Well, s'worth a shot.

Whilst I may not be one of the most regular posters, I have been here since 2006 and have posted nearly every week since then, checking the stone once a day, never taking a break from what is my internet 'regular' smile.gif

Due to this, I know the ins and outs of the site and would be well suited to keeping the friendly open approach we have here.

Whilst I am moderately busy with exams and the like currently, over the coming years I see myself having lots of free time, so I'll always be around (and I can always make time for the 'stone!).

Admittedly, I am not the biggest rules buff or the greatest hobbyist (mental note: get some photos up in hobby section) and whilst I don’t spend large amounts of time in the general beasts of chaos forum, I do spend a lot of time in Hobby and Background, even if sometimes I don’t leave comments. I occasionally check out what's happening in the battle reports section, and there's some real gems in there. Mainly however, you'll probably find my in the off topics or stalking your painting logs ninja.gif

Whilst the same applies of the other two people who've applied, I also live in Europe (the UK to be precise) which is useful, being online when the current mods are sleeping.

So, TK for mod '09! (that's three abbreviations right there!B))

Both regal and treacherous,

Traitor King.

EDIT: oh, and as it seems to be customary around here, here's the same naked horse man dancing on the beach.

If I were a mod the herdstone would have free pizza on thursdays, and a dollar off anything you buy at the cafeteria.

And I think I am qualified because I am less annoying than I was last year, never mind two years ago.

I hardly spam annymore and I am generally an all around great guy.

I've never had fights with any members, and I did not participate in the alf, daggoth and arach love triangle.

I spend most of my herdstone time in: Off topic, the warhammer world, and general beasts section, occasionnaly delving in to the hobby section. The rest of the forum I just peruse to see if anything catches my eye.

I am in a different timezone than decker, although I do live in canada (we have more than one timezone wink.gif ).

I've been on the herdstone everyday for 2 years now, and I almost have it set as my homepage (google wins though sad.gif) .

Oh and don't forget, I would like to see the endless secrets of the mod forum (Hey, at least I'm honest) tongue.gif

Oh and I would also like to revive the idea of a herdstone campaign, which would be awesome to run. smile.gif

Closing Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlTvWvfEMxE

And this would meen so so so so much to me tongue.gif
*Wipes tear from eye* rolleyes.gif

Thanks,
Grarrzag.
smile.gif

PS: Decker talks to Draco on msn but not me?! WTH? I'm like his brother, everyone in Canada is related pretty much! tongue.gif tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

AH what the hell, I'll give it a shot.

Though admittedly I have not been on as frequently as before, I do truly love the Herdstone at heart, and have been an active member.

I have experience being a mod/admin on another site*cough cough my failure site cough* and am on a timezone I believe no other mod i on. (Central, lemme know) I have dealt with hackers/ bad spammers on my site, and went through them.

I have never provoked any conflict on the Herdstone, and have tried to make topics before to engage members and help the newer people of the hobby. I am by no stretch considered a good painter/player, but I also enjoy fresh ideas and concepts, and am all for a Herdstone Campaign and Magazine, as long as I don't have to organize it, I crumble at creating technology. tongue.gif

Oh, and if you vote for me, there will be cake.

edit: I am also on several times a day.

Thanks for the applications guys. mrtn has been chosen as the first mod, but we're still deliberating another. Applications remain open should there be any further applications.

I doubt I can make this 500 words, especially just trying to pimp myself, but I'd like to have a go, especially to help out with Painting Competitions, and just helping with the Hobby Forums. Since that is my main interest in the hobby. I've been wanting to do some articles for painting, and since the new book is right around the corner, there's no better time. I am also interested in contributing to the Fanzine, should it get going, but I cannot do the layout, since my machine with the Adobe Suite is down.

I think I'm friendly to newcomers, and try to offer any painting tips I can, when they are wanted. The only downside is that I'm not the most active, when it comes to posting, I'd rather paint, but I do check the forums everyday.

I consider myself to be a good poster, I try to use good grammar, good spelling, and stay away from controversial topics.

If selected, I may even change my avatar to one of my BoC characters, instead of a dead Wardancer... wink.gif biggrin.gif

...of course if I do get the job, I guess I can no longer enter the comps, hmmm, is it worth it?

Karankawa entered four things in the last competition, one of them a house, so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem if you were to become a mod. wink.gif

I doubt it will matter anyway. I don't look to become a Mod, there are much better applicants, I'm just trying to make the board read one more application! wink.gif

Plus I doubt I get anything done for it anyway. But I do have a Herd being worked on as I type... stay tuned.
