Hello fellow Herdstone hobby enthusiasts!
Today I announce that the Fall / Winter 2009 Herdstone Painting Competition is under way! Same rules apply as from previous events (see "pinned" topic on rules also): This time there are two categories: Category #1 - A herd (as chosen per our current army book and must meet the minimum requirements for a unit - ie at least 5 gor and 5 ungors) - must be painted - may be converted. Category #2 - A spawn - must be painted - may be converted. The work will be voted by the public at large on which entries they like best. Timing: Submissions due in to me by December 4th, 2009. Voting begins December 7th, 2009 Rules: 1. No Plagiarism: Plagiarism is defined as the act of taking and using another's work as one's own. The entry must have been painted/converted by you. If it was not done by you and you just want to show it off you can post it in the hobby section. Plagiarism will be dealt with harshly, including banning. 2. Each photo must include the word herdstone, this can be done by putting a scrap piece of paper in-front or behind the model with herdstone written on it or even painting it on the base!. This is to stop cheating. In the past about 70% of people forget to do this, but from now on I won't accept it as 'oh I forgot'. 3. For the sake of logistics you may only enter once. 4. Each entry may submit up to three photos of the model (or more if with good reason). Make sure you submit the photos you want to use - and in the format you want to see them - I dont' want to guess as to what you want to use. 5. Links to the photos can be submitted to me via PM. If you don't know how to upload photos see: uploading photos or ask someone for help. 6. When voting time comes please vote, each voter will have two votes per category. Please please please please don't ask all your friends to vote for yours and don't get people to sign up new accounts just so they can vote for you and never come back. 7. This is a secret vote so don't tell anyone which entry is yours (and don't ask). 8. A person can submit up to one entry for each category. Prizes: Aside from all the fame and fortune, the winner will have some sway over the theme of the next Herdstone Painting Competition! If there are any other questions - please let me know! Please post your expected level of participation and any questions or comments you might have - good luck to all!! --------------------

Can I assume the #3 - you may only enter once thing means once in each category?

Boo! Why crawl when you can run? I didn't see anyone who was for the current rules when I posted about it. I won't set aside an models as "don't post these, they may end up in a contest", and as usual I posted some spawns just this summer.

Just don't want to move too fast. This the second time we have had multiple entries - which I understand was well received and could be confirmed this time around.
There was not much feedback one way or the other for the End of Summer competition, but if now is the time to have rule #7 put on hiatas (we still have time to make such a decision), let your voice be heard! Gosh, now I'll have to get cracking! I have a BeastHerd waiting in the cupboard, but I don't think I'll get around to doing them this time - and a Spawn in the very same cupboard, just waiting to be built up for this occasion.. hmm!!
As for Rule 7, I don't think it makes too much difference either way. If it's secret, half the time it's possible to guess who's entries are whose anyway, so some of the mystery is already gone. Perhaps we should look at what larger competitions do - I know the comp I entered recently didn't show names with entries, and I don't think GD does either. As per the issue raised by mrtn, does Rule 7 proclude entry of something you have already posted in your diary? I thought not - in the last competition, BK (in his official capacity) ruled that I could enter the Centigors which I had already posted, as long as I had done some extra work on them. So, mrtn, perhaps go ahead with those Spawn regardless I say! I guess, if pressed to vote, I would say a la 'real world': don't post names with the actual entries. Don't allow entries that have been made in previous Herdstone competitions, but do allow entries that have already been posted elsewhere before - so, effectively, revise Rule 7. I think Rule 6 could be combined with Rule 7 too, so: Rule 6.5 Also, Rule 2 - I thought it was "The word 'Herdstone" should be visible in at least one of each individual set of entry photos...." ?? That seems to have been how it was in previous times.. Anyway, there you have it, my 2 Australian cents worth... otherwise known as the ramblings of a madwoman! -------------------- BeastMum's CMoN efforts.. Now aiming for seven and up

Ok just to be sure. We'll have two sepatare categories, or will the entries be lumped together?

Two seperate categories - similiar to the Spring / Summer event. Winning one does not preclude you from winning the other even.

Seeing the new announcement it seems that the removal team lost with two goals against zero?

Technically, mrtn, its 3 to 1 (with 1 additional split). Still have time to go, but I don't see much interest in overturning at this point..perhaps a few more supporters would sweeten the pot?

I'm for keeping the rule. Of course, even if the vote is secret the one who wants still will be able to know, whose entry he\she is voting for. On the other hand, there are plenty of users who don't really read the forum, but just view the pictures from time to time. Others are just not interested who exactly made this or that entry, but occasional knowledge may lead to some prejudices (like voting for someone who's posts you don't like is something you are unlikely to do) So let's keep it secret at least to some extent.
