Hey all,

Two things have been occupying my time recently:

1. I had five old metal Ungors lying around that I started to paint a while ago but never finished, so I decided to go back to them and try out the new washes. Must say I'm quite pleased with them, even if they are old and scrawny.

2. I have A LOT of bitz lying around, and decided to do a conversion. I really had no plan going into it, other than I wanted to make a Beast lord. This is what I came up with, although I'm not sure what it is. It certainly is blessed by Tzeentch. There are bitz from the Beast Herd, Tuskgor Chariot, Spawn, Centigor, and Tomb Kings Chariot in this model. The front part of the base (without gravel) is going to be a swamp inspired by Herod's work. This really was a learning experiment, as I am not very talented with green stuff or converting in general. Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

They come with several extra arms (5 spear arms + 3 command arms for 5 models).

Everything looks great. I've been making all sorts of little mutant monstrosities from the spawn box recently to make into various horrors, and I think you just inspired me in how I'm going to make my flesh hounds. Simple, but looks great.

Looks good!
I think you could try to hide the "ball-joint" of the head/neck a bit better.

If you're still using HoC you could maybe use him as an exalted on steed, or something like that? Or a unit filler o some sort.

I really like those old ungors.

Nice work. I like those old scrawny metal ungors. I have a bunch in my army and a bunch more to paint still. They add variety as the smallest in the beast hierarchy.

Is the tip of the centigor thing's halberd bent or is it just trick photography? Personally I would try to reduce the size of the ball joint at the neck to make it skinnier then gs it. You could try to hide it better, but its our of proportion with the rest of the body. I find that boar fur a hard fur to match new sculpted fur with. Not trying to bring you down or anything, just offering advice. I think its a pretty sweet conversion and look forward to seeing it painted.

The best advice I can give is work in layers with gs. You'll get best results that way. ALso, if you dont have a smoother tool for gsing, I would pick one up. Our local Time Machine sells a set of 4 generic gs tools for 16 bucks. The gw tool is pretty useless imho.

Thanks for the replies!

Tauren: decker was correct, the Centigor box comes with extra arms. I didn't build a unit champion so the arm was available.

Shaggothlord: He's not going to be a Centigor... I really wanted to make a Beastlord but this guy just couldn't fit on a 25 mm base. Tzeentch must have some plan for this guy in the works.

decker_cky: Glad I inspired you!

mrtn: How would I go about making the neck less round and more like a neck? Just file it down? Using him as an Exalted Champion is a good idea, but I don't have a Mortal Chaos army.

Uggg: The spear tip is definitely slightly bent at the end and I'm having a hard time bending it back without breaking off the arm and/or deforming it even more. You're absolutely correct in that the Boar fur is very difficult to match with green stuff. It's got this strange round pattern. My green stuff doesn't look perfect, but I think it's close enough to get away with. I've just been working with the GW sculpting tool and a toothpick. I'd definitely like to pick up that kit at the Time Machine, thanks for the info.

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one with a soft spot for the old Ungors. Most people make fun of them. biggrin.gif

I'll be sure to post pictures when he is painted, but I think I will try to work on his neck a bit before I prime him.

If you make him rearing up he could work for 25 mm...

Never know, we may yet see a centigor hero come the new book.

I like your ungors! They're like cute and scary at the same time, kinda like gremlins or something. Speaking of something, your Tzeentch something is pretty cool. Your opponents won't know what to expect when they see it. Make sure to update!

I like the boar body as a base. It looks way tougher than a horse. That spawn box is just so great for bitz. That is a way cool conversion there and I want to see it painted.

I like the old ungors. Nice work.

The other model looks like a solid spawn.

So it's been about a year and a half but I've finally painted my "Tzeentch Something" and taken photographs. Hooray!

With any luck the new Beasts of Chaos book will have a Centigor Hero and then I'll actually have a use for this model.

He was a lot of fun to paint. I think he came out suitably wacky and interesting. What do you think?
