This photo shows the last Vortex of the four with the Kockney koi 15 watt U/V and the Aquamax 3500 pump plus the return pipe to the side of the pond which you can just make out at the side , it also contains a huge bag of alfa grog where helpful bacteria is grow in huge quantities, ohmy.gif smile.gif

This photo if you ignore the Votex's in the fore ground of the photo. smile.gif
It will give you an idea of the scale of everything feel free to magnify to give you a better idea as it shows it's sister setup in place and you'll get an idea of scale from it ohmy.gif

This photo shows two of the Vortex's in line and an idea of the size of the pipe work they contain Jap matting designed to filter out bits of detritus after everything has been spun in the first vortex in line to break up bits of detritus rolleyes.gif smile.gif

This last photo is an image of the foot print of the base of the pond and gives you an idea of the bottom drain, its pipe and also you can just make out the spindrifter pipe running alongside and connected to the hub of the bottom drain It works by supplying air up into the pond via the spindrifter.
This bed of sand is about one foot in depth blink.gif smile.gif

We hope this photo's will help you invisage our poject of course it will be different than these photos but youv'e got the idea of it. smile.gif

PS after a preasure wash it should all come up as good as new smile.gif
Then when it is running a double dose of PP should kill of anything unwanted both our pond and it's sister cost £3,000 so ours was £1,500 and it is only about two years old. smile.gif
The jap matting cost £45 a sheet and there are a stack of those as you can see smile.gif
Plus the alfa grog is £12.50 for a Kilo and there is around 100 kilos of that, both these were thrown in for free which was really nice of Stu and Mel. smile.gif
We were also given 11 ft square of brand new netting by a member of our club last week to net the top of the pond smile.gif

Wow Wow Wow

That is some set up you have there Brox. With the water running through all those filters, I imagine you will have an immaculate pond with crystal clear water. Your Koi will be in 7th heaven with all that space. I can see why now that it will take you most of the summer to set that all up. I can't wait to see it all put together.

Good luck!!!!!!!!

Hi Sabrillo
Can you imagine our thoughts when we first saw it cryingbig.gif, shock was the first thought as we had envisioned it as a lot smaller than it is laugh3.gif laugh3.gif.
But when we got used to the idea we thought exactly the same as you " 7th heaven ", laugh.gif laugh.gif
It's going to be a major project ohmy.gif and it has to be done right first go as I believe it holds about 5 tons of water so we cant afford a leak in any of the joins and especially from the bottom drain. mellow.gif

It looks pretty fancy. You didn't take a photo of the pond itself? It's just a perfectly circular huge black bowl basically?

Hi Robyn
The second photo will give you an idea of the size but you are correct it is a perfectly circular black bowl. smile.gif
But when all is finished and the pond is clad in either wood or brick it will look really nice.
In the koi world here there are very few ponds that are natural looking in fact the ones weve seen are all either rectangular, square or round though richer koi keepers tend to go for the Japanese zen type garden sort of thing.

Stu and Mel took the photo's I should have asked them thinking about it. smile.gif

Hi Swimming_clueless
Yes they are, the water leaves the pond by way of the bottom drain and is sent by a pipe into the first vortex this spins the water breaking up bits of detritus.
It then travels through the next two flters containing the Jap Matting removing smaller particals smile.gif
Then from there it goes to the last vortex through the Alfa grog the Clarifier, and Pump and is returned to the pond at an angle so the water starts a slow spiral to the bottom of the pond and starts all over again smile.gif
Meanwhile the Spindrifter connected to the bottom of the drain supplies a constant stream of bubbles to the pond.
Another air pump supplys air to the three filters with medium those helping the growth of helpful bacteria. smile.gif
To clean there are a number of slide valves to open and shut, so as you can see it's far less labour intensive smile.gif

Awesome set up.
What did it cost over all?
Your filtration system looks awesome (now you need a way to hide it, lol!)

Your 'soon to get' diamondback sturgeon will LOVE your filtration.
They love excellent water and with they will have a blast!
How many are you getting?
One, or two?

Turn the filters into a set of bleachers lmao. Two rows of them, for people to sit down, and then put a dolphin in (since you have so much water laugh.gif ) and run a show!

Hi Jayesh
Our overall layout s far has been £600,(the original cost to Stu and Mel was £3,000 for twin units making ours worth £1,500), the only thing for the time being we will do with the Vortex's is to put lids on the top. smile.gif
Perhaps a little later we may box them in (we'll see on that). smile.gif
I'm glad you say that the diamond backed Sturgeon will just love our filtration. smile.gif
We'll get just one for the time being, with perhaps another later on
two of the filters are full with Jap Matting and another at the end of the sequence is full of Alfa Grog , with an opyion tp add brushes.
We hope that these answers helpful to you?
