My daughter bought this kit for breeding triops. Anyone know how long before they lay eggs ??? Will they survive with my Large goldfish if I put some in the tank??? 9 inch goldfish. It is only day 2 after putting starter eggs in water and I cant see anything yet.

The goldfish is still fat as ever and might even be fatter now. Its like,,, how fat can she get before she explodes? I feel like I should put her out of her pain if she has any,, like you would do to a old dog. I keep her water conditions good and add the salt that i take out with change. Iv never had a goldfish get this fat, she has some infection or something. I will check her vent for red in morning. Thanks

Hi GOLDFISH TODD.
Buy some antibiotic food and try her on that, is she pineconing ? it may be that the kidneys are affected and this is causing a slow build up of fluids, trouble is without seeing her we cant give an accurate diognoses so everything is hit and miss. sad.gif
Is there any chance of posting a photo of her for both Robyn and we to have a close look at maybe then we can tell. smile.gif
We know it's not being eggbound she hasn't got dropsy as there is no pineconing it may be her kidneys it may be an internal infection you see what we mean !!!... sad.gif

It will take a few days before the eggs hatch. The triops will take weeks to grow large enough to not be eaten by the goldfish. Usually, only one triops survives as he eats all the rest! In order to breed them, you have to dry out their home so the eggs dry up. I wouldn't put them with goldfish as they won't survive in there.

Good luck!

We put the triops eggs into 77 degree water on sunday and thought we would see some action by now but i dont see anything moving. On sunday we had it under a lamp and thought it was 75 degrees but micky mouse thermometer that came with kit wasnt showing right temp. I put in one of my aqurium thermometers and brought up temp from 69 to 77 degrees. It says 1 to 3 days on box for them to hatch. Any thoughts on why no action yet. It is now tues 6pm here. I put in 5 more eggs today. Thanks and I will try to take picture of the fat goldfish and try to upload it here but i have trouble uploading stuff to this site , im not that good at doing that . Basically its a very fat skidish goldfish. lol

There is a thread from guy35 on triops. I think he only had one survive. Go to aquariums, other aquarium animals and you should find it. I didn't know how to post the thread on here.

They may have hatched and simply be too tiny yet for you to find them. They may be wiggling down on the bottom, sides, etc. Also, not all eggs will hatch. Did you use distilled water?

They are kind of a copper color. When I hatched some, it said to only use distilled water. The well water may have too many minerals, salts, etc. in it. What did your triops directions say? If you have eggs left, try using distilled water.

You read my mind today. Iv done some more reading and will try distilled water from my dehumidifier. I did see one small whitish speck darting around the bottom yesterday but cant find it today. I have to use a magnifing glass to see it.
