Thats right, I have a garden. In 2005 it was totaled by redoing the roof after the stupid hurricane [Charlie? SP?] which hit in August of 2004...
And last year [2008], We cut out a HUGE varigated Rubber Tree so I could not only put in a 9gal Pond, but have space for other plants... Since I live in Zone 9B/10 [I'm not sure how the USDA map works anymore], I decided to make it for tropicals...So...here are the pics of Various Plants!:        More pics to come! -------------------- |

I forgot to say, I added a few new plants, 2 Unknown, but 1 new Hen & Chicks....
and I chopped all down my Heliconas since my cats kept pulling them up & their leaves turned black...  -- Not my pic -------------------- |

Doubt very much that half those plants you have would survive their first ever winter here in the UK.  rgds broxandval  -------------------- Weve been Keeping Koi now for 22+ year's we have 14 Koi , 4 Alpine newts, One 12 year old fat cat called Dillon (black in colour apart from a little white patch on his chest)and a rescue female cat aged 3 called Suki (four white socks on her feet white running from her chin to her chest and a white streak down her tummy the rest of her being black , also a fat cat lol)growing collection of fishy art.

It really varies, it can stay freezing for quite a while then when the sun comes up, not get tooo much higher...but still close...
I think this winter is going to be BAD...it already looks to be around my BDAY and it's only September!   -------------------- |

That's a very nice garden Kenny. Here in So. Jersey a lot of the plants you have are grown as annuals such as tuberose begonias, and others with roots and tubers are dug up in the fall and wintered over in cool storage.
I can't be bothered with a lot of garden work such as digging up cannas, so I go with perennials and annuals. What I put in the ground stays there until it dies, or comes up the following Spring. -------------------- Career Varlet (ret.) Often wrong, and usually uncertain.
One Burmese Cat , Bryn Barishnakatt, who's been trying to tell me something ever since I got him 7 years ago but I haven't the least idea what it is. One 940 gallon raised liner pond. It's 30 years old and still evolving. Very windy So. Jersey barrier island. Zone 7 coastal. |

Nice plants! A lot of those plants we've had here but keep them as house plants. I put them outside in the summer and inside the rest of the year.
Is that fourth picture bougainvillea? We have a few of those but they're all scraggly and rarely flower. -------------------- Robyn, Analytical Chemist, Zone 6/7, Maryland

Hi Kenny.

Arey: I hate digging up/bringing plants in but luckily these do well in my garden year round[though I'll bring in the succulents on the freezing nights].
Robyn: Thanks! Yes, it's a bougainvilla...I cut it back so it grows more compact but for the 5 years I've had it, it's never really grown and barley flowers...the others are WEEDS though and I refuse to trim them because of their MAJOR thorns[like 2" thorns!] B&V: I have SOOOO many Aloe's it isn't funny, I took a clipping of one and now I have MILLIONS...I've had my clipping since 2000 probably! They are awesome plants... -------------------- |

I have the same problem about cats digging up/or biting on my plants,  especially bad cause I live in an apartment and the cats get bored quickly. Oh well I try to keep safeguards around the few plants I have  |

Yep...those tropical plants that you have in your garden is what we buy here for houseplants. You're lucky. My bougenvillia tree is turning yellow right now. I just brought them in last week. It only flowered on one side this summer. Very tempermental.
