Bio: Power is a volatile, wretched thing that has the ability to either curse or bless its host, depending on the host's will. Many who are born with power do not deserve it and so are destroyed by it before it is able to come to fruition. Saiyame is a demon who was born with a power that served as a double-edged sword, from a mother who was a beautiful, seductive adultress.

Saiyame's mother, Chiharu, had no notable social status, but her looks got her far in life. When Chiharu was about four hundred years old she married a rich noble named Shian, and soon after their unexpected marriage Saiyame was born. Shian was ecstatic that he had such a powerful, beautiful daughter, and even though she shared none of his physical traits he never doubted that he was indeed her father. However, when Saiyame was about a year old another youkai stepped forward and claimed that he had had an affair with Chiharu, who didn't even bother to deny it. Living in luxury had changed her, and Chiharu was often so drunk that she could hardly be bothered to care for her young daughter.

When Shian discovered that Chiharu had been unfaithful he had her executed without even allowing her to defend herself (not that it would have done much good anyway). Although Shian was furious to discover the truth about his wife, he could not bring himself to harm Saiyame. Whether she was his child or not, Shian swore to raise her as his own daughter and that is a vow he stuck to.

Saiyame grew up in luxury but she was far from spoiled. She had few real friends (she didn't meet Koji until after she left home, and at that time she looked to be around 13 while his appearance was somewhere around 8) because of her high status, and also because she was unusually gifted for a fox demon. She was not particularly skilled at casting illusions with fox magic, or with using fox fire, which was one of the most basic attacks for her kind, but Saiyame had her own unique powers that set her apart from her friends and family. She left home to train by herself when she was about 350 and has never returned since, even though she and her "father" were close.

Instead of using fox fire, Saiyame was able to conjure lightning and manipulate it so that it could burn or electrocute anything she wished, and it was a power that she took to with ease. Saiyame's other powers, however, were psychic based and they took much longer to master.

Telekinesis: Saiyame has the power to move objects with her mind, and she can uproot large trees and pieces of earth without exerting too much force, but she has to be absolutely focused to move the objects the way she wants to. For example, Saiyame can move pebbles or other objects and project them like bullets towards an enemy.

-Saiyame can not only move inanimate objects with her mind, she can move living things as well. It is difficult, but not impossible for Saiyame to pull a person's flesh right off his or her body or snap a bone by simply looking their way. It takes incredible concentration and there must be no outside distractions to draw her focus elsewhere. Also, the stronger a being's aura is, the longer it takes to rip it apart. With enough time and concentration, Saiyame could turn a person into little specks of dust.

Telepathy: Saiyame's telepathy is her most difficult power to control. She must constantly keep her mind guarded so that she will not be overwhelmed by the thoughts and emotions of others. If Saiyame allows another person's emotions to overpower her mind then she will be completely at that emotion's mercy. For example, if she was trying to stop someone from slaughtering an entire village but she couldn't block out their thoughts then she would have no choice but to act out that person's feelings for them. When she was younger Saiyame often found herself acting out other people's feelings and thoughts, which is why she worked so hard to keep her mind from picking up other people's thoughts and her expression placid. It isn't hard for her to project her thoughts into other people's minds and manipulate them or communicate telepathically, though.

-Saiyame is thousands of years old, older than Terra even, and she was in her late hundreds when she lost her sight. At that time Saiyame had been taking refuge in a village with a priestess and her husband. The preistess was was strong and easily made jealous, and she was not exactly happy to have someone as beautiful and seemingly flawless as Saiyame staying in her house. Like many human men, the priestess's husband was drawn to Saiyame and he lusted after her so strongly that Saiyame found his thoughts impossible to block. Her body acted out what his mind so badly wanted, and the priestess grew mad with rage when she discovered what had happened.

Saiyame didn't even defend herself when the priestess cursed her, taking away her eyesight and sealing her soul inside a hollowed out diamond pendant. Without her soul, Saiyame was an empty shell and the pendant remained lost for a few centuries before two dragons known as Yin and Yang, or Ankoku and Hikari found it. Ankoku and Hikari had been helped by Saiyame when she was very young and they took it upon themselves to help her in her time of need by placing the pendant around her neck and bringing her to Jinsei--the Tree of Life.

No matter what the two dragons tried, they could not remove Saiyame's soul from the pendant so they bound their own souls to hers and gave up their own freedom so that she could live. Now Saiyame lives in the Forest of the Dead with her two companions and she can venture away from the tree for a few months or longer (depending on how much energy she uses while she's gone) but she must always return to regain her lost energy. Saiyame is still blind but she can "see" the auras of all living things (including plants and animals), and that is how she moves so easily. The larger a creature's aura is, the harder it becomes for her to pinpoint the creature's exact location.

-The tree that Saiyame is bound to is called Jinsei, or the Tree of Life. It has housed her body and soul for many centuries and without its existence she would die (unless her soul was put back in her body) rather quickly. The island that Jinsei resides on, along with the lake surrounding it, exists in a dimension separate from Terra. Saiyame originally lived when Earth still existed, but she spent the time when the world was recuperating with Jinsei and so did not witness Earth's destruction or Terra's rise.

Saiyame is ancient, older than the modern world, but she doesn't really notice or mind the difference now that she has rejoined the dimension where she was born. She did not witness the rebirth of the world either, because she only recently left Jinsei for the first time.

Demon Form: When in her demon form Saiyame has all of the same powers, but she is faster and her aura can swell incredibly, depending on how much energy she wants to use. She doesn't take this form often in public, but it has the ability to stop almost any creature or person in their tracks, at least for a moment. In this form Saiyame is more feral and sometimes will resort to using her teeth and claws along with her other powers. One man described Saiyame's demon form as follows:

Before me stood a large fox so golden that its fur reflected the sun like fire. It was about six feet tall standing on all fours, and its nine tails twitched every which way as if they had a life of their own. The fox's bright blue eyes glowed luminescent and her muzzle was scrunched up in fierce growl that revealed a deadly set of fangs. The magnificent beast held such an aura of confidence and raw power that I was stunned, and the only thought I could form was that I was glad she wasn't baring her teeth at me. The air around the demon rippled with the energy pouring off of her, and even my opponent was frozen by the demon's unexpected appearance.

The Golden Fox

Hikari and Ankoku: It takes a lot of power to summon either one of these draconic spirits, but their auras are always wrapped around Saiyame, protecting her from unseen dangers. Saiyame cannot summon both dragons at the same time, but she can speak to them telepathically at any time she wishes. Ankoku's powers are dark and he mostly fights with his claws and teeth. Hikari does the same, but she is stronger when it is light, while Ankoku's strength does not fluctuate with the time of the day. Both dragons can lend Saiyame their spiritual power to help increase her aura, and they will fight to the death before letting any harm come to her.

Weapons, etc: Saiyame is skilled in many kinds of martial arts and she has the speed and cleverness of a fox. Saiyame is also somewhat skilled with a katana, but she prefers to use a whip that is black and made of a malleable metal. It has four large spikes at its end and the whip is able to act as a conductor for her electric attacks. There is a lever on the handle of Saiyame's sword that allows her to remove the spikes and project them like daggers with her mind, but it is an attack that she does not usually go out of her way to use.

Self: Saiyame has knee-length pale golden hair and silvery-blue milky eyes. She’s about 5’7” and usually wears her hair down. She has dark gold fox ears and one tail (same color) when she’s in her humanesque (so not a word) form. When in her fox form she is a pale gold with dark golden stockings and ear and tail tips.

Extra Info: Saiyame was cursed on a night when a terrible thunderstorm was going on and ever since she was revived she has been afraid of the sound of thunder. Saiyame's greatest weakness is that she will collapse into a shell of emptiness if the pendant is removed from her neck, so she tries to keep it as hidden as possible so it won't be disturbed in battle. Saiyame does not look to fight and she emits an aura of calm that is almost contagious, but she will defend herself or others if provoked.
