I was wondering about adding a graphic of Sammy to your banner DD. Too help you make the decision, I've added a poll.

I had to vote yes. While I agree it was time for Sammy to move on, he did accomplish an awful in his tenure with the Cubs. Prior to Bonds getting better juice, Sammy was the best hitter in baseball for a couple of years.

I said no. Not, at least, until he retires. True he belongs in cubs lore as one of the best that ever played for this team but i dont think that it would be appropriate to show him as a cub while he is currently playing for another team.

Nope - not now. Not until he retires, or returns to a Cubs uniform.
The banner currently displays past Cubs that are no longer playing. Sammy's an Oriole now. |

I voted no also for the same reason. He's wearing a different uniform so he doesn't go up there.

I voted yes, but thinking about it, I should've voted no. Like many of you have said, once he's retired, he can go up with other Cubs greats.
Speaking of greats, where's Ryno's mug? |

I think that DD voted no so that he doesn't have to do any editing

Blauser is such a legend in Cubs history. Did something weird happen to him?
Voted yes, but I do agree with you guys. Sosa must retire first. The Chico |

To all, The following is only my opinion and I am grateful to have it. Personally, I say no. To do would dishonor the legacy of the three who are already there, the spirit in which they played the game and the dedication they displayed to our team.
Ron Santo: A Cub to the end. He was traded to the Sox at the end of his career but hated being on the South Side. Ronnie is silence played with a disease the public did not know he had. It certainly made his playing very difficult as it was a daily struggle. He never complained. He has lost both legs. He still doesn't complain. Ron Santo has the courage of a true Champion, whether he is admitted to the Hall of Fame or not. Fergie Jenkins. After failing to win 20 games in 1973, after 6 straight seasons of doing so, Fergie as Ronnie was traded away. Fergie was able to come back and finish his career as a Cub. In 1982, at the age of 38, Fergie led the club in innings pitched, ERA and a 14-15. Jenkins is now in the Hall of Fame, proudly wearing a Cub's Cap. Ernie Banks. A lifetime Cub and Mr. Cub for life. What more need I say? Sammy Sosa: Baring any drug revelations, he will be a Hall of Famer. That is pretty much where the comparison ends us the prior 3 players listed. What traits does he NOT have in common with the others? Sammy is an egomaniac. Sammy is a liar. Sammy is a cheater. Sammy is a quitter. Sammy never apologized for anything. Sammy is glad to leave Chicago. For me, I'm as glad to see him go as he is happy to leave himself. Do us all a favor Sammy. Please just stay away. I imagine if he gets the call to the Hall, he will have to wear a Cub's cap. I for one will simply be ashamed at his induction. Billy Williams: If a player is to be perhaps added to the banner, why not this worthy Hall of Famer, who is still connected with the organization instead? Best regards, Cle |

Haha, actually I haven't voted at all. I rarely ever do. I'll stick my thoughts in a post, submit it, then move on to the next thread while I forget to actually vote. I didn't even vote in the "will sosa be traded" poll until after they announced he was going to be an Oriole. :D As for the topic.... I can't just "edit" the banner. For one, I didn't make it myself, and changing it would be disrespectful to the person who put the effort into making it how it is, with the images I gave to her to use. Two, I don't have the right program. Sure, I could add Sammy to the banner, but the image would look totally out of place since I don't have Photoshop. I'm looking into finding an easy to use hack that would allow multiple banners to be used. It would randomly load a banner each time the page was refreshed or a link clicked on. Once I find one, I'll have someone make a few new banners and I'll load them into the hack along with this one and the old one. Speaking of which, I need to take Sammy's jersey off the main page also. Any thoughts on who I should replace it with? |

Aramis Ramirez would be my first choice, followed by Zambrano

Preferably someone who's last name would still be readable after sizing down the image enough to fit in those little boxes. :D
Then again, I could just wait until the new nameless jerseys come out. Any of them would fit. |

So...did you get the vote right? <_< I'd put Wood's jersey up there. He's the most senior player with the Cubs now and he needs some good mojo. He can be the Cubs "Cubs Kingdom" honorary Captain...To hell with Dusty anyway! |

Dear DD, As I had previously told you, I think that the banner's great. Let someone else, and somewhere else put SamME up on their forum along with Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer and Cal Ripken. You might discern that I'm still a little bitter? ;) Best regards, Cle

Cle, That team used to be the ST. LOUIS Browns so I don't have any trouble thinking up bad things for Sammy's new team! Joe |

i can translate some of this...
z's frame: you don't need to know how to read korean. the batter is freaking out at the red lights coming from z's eyes. the caption above alou's frame literally translates "even if [he] dies, it's good." i wonder if that's what it actually means, though. mo is complaining that the woman is not doing a good job putting on the heat pads... and the woman is complaining, back.... about something. maddux frame: the guy (not sure who he's supposed to be) is screaming "16 wins? when? i pitch (literal translation:) my bones out and i only have 9!" i'm not quite sure what maddux's response is... aramis: i'll have to get back to you on this one... there's a key word i don't understand. but yes, that is manny in the background. prior/wood: the caption reads: "in good friendship..." kerry: "even when we're hurt" prior: "we share it!". the gene cline looking fella at the bottom is saying "stop sharing!" not sure about nomar's caption... nomar: "i'd look good in anything" (i think) the boss: "wanna try on pinstripes?" and finally, sammy's frame: sammy: "my friend, the bat, do you want to share some food with me?" the two guys in the background are obviously annoyed and saying something in derision. written above them is "dangerous." not quite sure why. my korean is pretty rusty. |

GAB,
Thanks for the translation. I think that is supposed to be Clement in the Maddux frame, and Dusty in the Prioe/Wood panel. Chuck |

Dear GAB, Thanks as well for the translation. It's sad when Sammy has to talk to his bat. Best regards, Cle
P.S. Might you translate the Red's cartoons also, when you find the time. Thanks in advance. (Posted Image) |

Hello, all....
I am not as conciliatory as my colleagues here. As far as I am concerned, the Juicer/Corker can drop dead. Now, we have to put up with this dreg down here in Texas..... Too bad. :taz: |
