I'm not going to lie to you, Battlefield Earth was the best sci-movie of all time.

Cave people who mine for gold? John Travolta dressed like a Klingon? Rats being a favorite food?

I can't wait till this drops on blu-ray. Anyone with me on this? Speak up!

Battlefield Earth? o.O

As to Trek.. I'd see it just to see Zachary Quinto. He's full of Sylar-y (and now Spock-y) goodness. Used to really like Trek, but the interest faded over time. More of a Doctor Who fan, really.

Never watched all of 5th Element, only seen bits on TV sometimes, but Milla Jovovich is in it so... Can't be all bad. XD

Serenity! Woo! Full of win and awesome. Very shiny. Fantastic cast too, only problem is what happened to a few favorite characters in the film.

All cool suggestions. I happen to be a fan of the comic hero movies. IronMan was awesome.

Titan AE is one of my fav scifi/animated films of all time. It was brilliant and can easily be rewatched over and over again.

oo I haven't seen BattleField Earth

... There need to be more good Scifi movies. What has the Scifi channel been doing all this time?

What? Irons Man? Star Track? The Fifth Elemental? Serenade? Isn't that last one an adult film?

You people clearly are not understanding the genius of the favorite food ploy that John Travolta's character in the film Battlefield Earth used in order to get the stupid human to do his bidding. It is a clear analogy to the problem that plagues nerd-girl kind (i.e. the rapid adoption of the ferret). Truly you all need to view the wonder that this feature is.

No, no, Serenade is the stage name you used to dance under. "Ladies and gentleman get out your wad of cash and get ready to blow all of it on..... Serenade!" Robert Pattinson used to dance as "Sparkles," but everyone knows that. But what they don't know is he began his career after being inspired by Serenade's dancing.

You cannot drag me to see Battlefield Earth. Two thoughts, one you actually like this movie for some reason or another or.. Alternately, I'm thinking this may be just one sadistic joke, if someone goes and watches it, you can then point and laugh at the nearly two hours that they'll never get back. Kinda thinking this is sort of like a two hour Rickroll only worse, far, far worse.

Or maybe it's kind of like watching Ed Wood films. o.O

Not even with your hypnotic dancing can you persuade me, Serenade. XD
I must resist...Difficult as it may be, with your considerable skills.

And if I'm walking to Netflix, what have we entered into, the age of Stand Alone Complex net browsing? Or are my fingers supposed to do the walking?

Seen the Star Trek movie, was not that impressed. The actor who played Kirk just didn't capture in my opinion the spirit seen in the series. As for Battlefield Earth, the concept was great but a choice of different actors not so mainstream would have made good. C'mon, Travolta did Hairspray and after watching the first few minutes of that I had to stop.

So many good movies that created the nostalgia are being subjected to the cruelties of modern era that future civilians will never appreciate. If it was considered a good movie in its time I say leave it alone.

A fair point (I can't comment on Star Trek, still haven't seen the new film). Sometimes an update is good though, there are movies that are pretty much timeless (ex. The Princess Bride), despite sometimes dated special effects, but others greatly benefit from updates. Even as far as television series go.

Like I'm a Doctor Who fan, really enjoyed the old series (oh the special effects XD), the TV movie was very underwhelming (but it was all we got in years as far as television stuffs). And now with New!Who, I think it's bloody fantastic. I haven't seen much, but what I have is just great. Have seen a few episodes with Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant now and I've no objections.

So updates can be done well, it's just...not as easy as some people think to not only capture the magic of old series, but to do everything just as well.
