What oldschool movies should I watch?

It just occurred to me after watching Rashomon that Akira Kurosawa is dead (took me long enough to find this out, being that he died a decade ago). So now I'm interested in different, but still possibly as good, movie makers.

So yeah, it doesn't matter if it's KungFu or not, what other Live Japanese movies should I check out that aren't by Kurosawa?

The Seven Samurai even though it was very long it gave me a in depth understanding in a dramatic stand point of the heroic journey.....In other words, it's good drama lol it's what gives me inspiration when I write dramatic stories lol

=D Seven Samurai is the best oldschool japanese movie out there. However, it was done by Akira Kurosawa XD. I own it. Very oldschool awesome.

I found another dude called Miike. He, uh, does violent bloody stuff.

Anyone know who directs most of the 'Zatoichi - the blind samurai' films?
