The reason I ask is a story I read online claiming that W.O.W. is as addictive as cocaine. link

So, is it?

Yes, which is why I choose not to play WoW ... or do cocaine.

I hear you. I used to worry when my daughter first got WOW from her friends as a present.

She can be so ADD though that she finds the game boring. Her friends will spend 15 to 20 minutes changing their "stuff" before going on a raid she has told them to let her know when they are almost done and when they are she will join them, or she just goes offline on them.

Well as a player that's been playing for a couple years I can say it is very addictive. I've never done crack so I can't compare the two, but if you don't set rules and guidelines on play time it will consume you.

It defintely put a rift in my relationship for awhile, but we overcame it. It's kind of one of those things that you can't explain, it has to be experienced. I never thought I would care about a rpg this much.

What makes it so addictive to me is the constant battle to not get left behind by your friends leveling and the want to explore the new content. There's always something to do even when you've hit the level cap.

However, after playing for so long I find myself playing less and less. If not for a co-worker that plays I probably would only play a few hours a week.

I think it's the depth of content and the ease of socializing that really makes it's addictive. Which probably makes it even worse for people who have addictive personalities, because it becomes hard to not play when you have the time. You will give up alot of activities to spend time with the game. Plus you have to pay $20 a month to play so you want to make the most of that time. :P

It really should be played in moderation.

Totally agree. I have lost quite a few online friends to W.O.W.

But if you are interested in a manga that reminds me od W.O.W., I highly recommend 1/2 Prince.
